JESUS COLLEGE, CAMBRIDGE
AWARD-WINNING STUDENT ACCOMMODATION BUILDING
In 2014, the prestigious Jesus College, Cambridge, contracted out the development of its new commercial accommodation. The Gort Scott building was a complex, custom build that defied the boundaries of contemporary design. In particular, the bespoke facade featured brickwork across five different faces of the building.
Since completion, the Gort Scott building has received multiple prestigious awards. Including a BREEAM Excellent rating, Best Commercial Building at the Brick Awards 2016, as well as a RIBA National Award and RIBA East Award.
The innovative approach and forward-thinking of the developer and project teams, perfectly aligned to an institution renowned for its innovative minds. The project overcame several challenges from restricted access to the accuracy of design moulds, which makes the build a true achievement for all involved.
